    Holtec International maintains an experienced cadré of degreed engineers skilled in field construction work at generating stations, both nuclear and fossil powered. Most of the construction activities are rendered by Holtec as part of the company’s turnkey projects; however, in some instances plants engage the services of the SCS Division under a stand-alone contract.

  • Core Areas of Expertise
    • Change-out of spent fuel racks in pools to increase the installed storage capacity in spent fuel pools.

    • Troubleshooting and rehabilitation of unsatisfactorily performing equipment. Services include installation of anti-vibration stakes in surface condensers, tube pluggings, and tube bundle replacement in heat exchangers.

    • Installation of capital equipment such as surface condensers, feedwater heaters, and tanks in power plants.

    • Civil/architectural and construction services to build storage pads, roadways, Interface Building, security, and lighting for Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installations (ISFSIs).

    • ISFSI implementation services, including loading of multi-purpose canisters (MPCs) with nuclear fuel, lid welding, vacuum drying, and helium backfilling of MPCs and their installation in the storage overpack.

    • Transportation of loaded MPCs in Holtec’ dual-purpose overpack (HI-STAR 100).

    • Rigging and heavy load handling services within 10CFR Part 50 structures with rigorous compliance with defense-in-depth requirements.

    • Blackness Testing of neutron absorber panels.

    • Underwater welding and protrusion removal.

    • 3-D pool cavity surveys.
