Feedwater Heaters for Solar
The condensate exiting the condensate pumps is heated in a low pressure feedwater heater using the extraction steam from the steam turbine.
Feedwater heaters are available for both vertical and horizontal installation. The thermal processing of steam may involve desuperheating, condensing, and sub-cooling in a three-zone heater. A two zone heater typically features condensing and sub-cooling zones only. Single zone heaters (condensing only) have also been used.
Holtec heaters are characterized by several innovative features that protect them from operational problems that endemic to feedwater heaters such as:
- Flashing in the sub-cooling zone
- Erosion of tubesheet and tube ends
- Destructive flow induced vibrations
Holtec heaters are manufactured at the Holtec Manufacturing Division, in the U.S. and also by other manufacture partners overseas.
