Non-Segmental Baffles are installed to improve vibration resistance in new units and in re-tubed bundles. These patented baffles support the tubes by setting them in diamond shaped holes.
Holtec’s Non-Segmental Baffle eliminates the problems associated with high volume shellside flows, since it provides total tube support while offering minimal obstruction to the passing fluid.
In addition, the use of these baffles virtually eliminates flow-induced vibrations and premature tube failure.
Holtec’s Non-Segmental Baffles are made from a flat metal strip that approaches the surface quality of typical heat exchanger tubing. Each strip is laser cut to ensure a precise lattice-like structure.
Typical materials of construction are 304 and 316 Stainless Steels; however other material can be used upon request. Tube hole clearances are within the TEMA and HEI limits.
Anti-Vibration Tube Stakes prevent collisions between adjacent tubes in condenser and heat exchanger bundles that may be susceptible to flow-induced vibrations.
These Tube Stakes can be used in new heat exchanger bundles or installed in existing equipment to negate harmful vibrations occurring during a units operating life.
Holtec’s Tube Stakes are precisely formed from thin 304 Stainless Steel strips to develop a U-Shaped cross section which matches the tube lane gap and provides the necessary rigidity for inserting the stakes deep into the tube bundle.
The stakes are fabricated with a “Shepard’s Crook” at one end, which locks onto the peripheral tubes to prevent any movement of the stakes during operation.
Holtec’s precision formed stakes do not require any lubrication or special tools for installation. Introduced in 1986, Holtec stakes have proven their merit in numerous power plant condensers and other heat exchangers.
